New Color, Pattern and Dimension for Sound Mitigation
Wolf-Gordon GATHER® Acoustical Materials
| New York, NY - June 5, 2023 | Introducing dramatic new designs that achieve between a 0.25 and 0.90 NRC in a lightweight, semi-rigid panel system: GATHER® Acoustical. As the dynamics and goals of open spaces in commercial interiors evolve post-pandemic, GATHER Acoustical panels offer beautiful, color-saturated pattern and texture in a 100% recycled PET construction while helping to reduce noise in workplace, education, hospitality, healthcare and other commercial spaces. The name, GATHER, was carefully chosen to be warm and humanistic, consistent with Wolf-Gordon’s brand and our joyful reconvening in public and semi-public spaces.
Formatted as ¼” thick, 4’ x 10’ semi-rigid panels, GATHER is offered as a kit of parts for designers to customize. Twelve colorways can be used alone as solid color panels or digitally printed, engraved, precision cut, layered, folded and woven into twenty different high performing dimensional constructions. Wolf-Gordon is the only source for origami-like folded and woven designs.
“GATHER is our contribution to making building inhabitants feel more comfortable in a post-COVID world. We have so missed gathering together these past two years; but in coming together, we are more sensitive to environmental conditions such as noise. In mitigating sound, GATHER helps reduce stress and improves the overall effectiveness of spaces for human activity.”
- Marybeth Shaw, Chief Creative Officer, Marketing & Design
GATHER’s design team was excited to play with dimension and create designs that project off the wall. The patterns, enhanced by different fabrication techniques, were largely inspired by architectural elements and materials such as facades, claddings, sunscreens, space frames, perforated metal, tile, roofing and textiles.
In its many iterations, GATHER may be applied directly to a wall or layered and mounted with Z-clip or standoff hardware, available from Wolf-Gordon. It can also help subdivide spaces by being suspended or applied to gravity-bound substrates. GATHER can wrap a room or create cozy nooks by mitering the edges.
GATHER is constructed from a PET formulation in 100% recycled polyester (60% post-consumer and 40% pre-consumer) and has NRC values ranging from 0.25 to 0.9 (depending on the number of layers, mounting method and dimensional options).
GATHER is Red List-free, OekoTex® Standard 100 Confidence in Textiles, listed on DECLARE and Mindful Materials, and meets Cal 01250 for low emissions. GATHER also helps achieve one point for LEED EQ 10.1 Acoustic Performance and up to two points for WELL Sound, depending on the construction and surface area covered in a space. GATHER also meets the Global Recycling Standard. It is Class A rated for ASTM E84, both adhered and unadhered fire tests, and has a lightfastness value of 4.5 @ 40 hrs. GATHER is easily cleaned and can be disinfected with a diluted bleach solution.
GATHER is available for sampling at www.wolfgordon.com (solid colors and designs). Custom samples can be requested from WG Customs Lab.
Wolf-Gordon supports each order of GATHER with in-house acoustical expertise and project management.
